The SF317S at a glance

What you get is an oversized square front that covers a lot of face. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, with adjustable nose pads. The feed gives the material as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. It has metal temples. Colour 002 is how Salvatore Ferragamo labels this version.

Size and fit

It measures 57-16-140, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. The lens width of 57 mm is large for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

What the lens does

The lenses are dark grey. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. No polarization or UV figure comes with this pair from the supplier, and we do not add one.
