SF308S: shape and build

Seen front on, this is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. Our supplier lists the frame as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. Thin wire temples complete the frame. Colour 715 is how Salvatore Ferragamo labels this version.

Will it fit?

Written on the inside of the temple as 61-15-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 61 mm is extra large for a sunglasses frame. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

Lens colour and finish

The lenses are blue gradient. A blue tint gives the view a cooler cast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Polarization and UV rating are not in the supplier's data for this pair, so neither is claimed here.
