SF275SN: shape and build

In the photos the Salvatore Ferragamo SF275SN is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. Our supplier lists the frame as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. Colour 002 is how Salvatore Ferragamo labels this version.

The numbers on the temple

It measures 62-14-150, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. The lens width of 62 mm is extra large for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Lens colour and finish

Grey gradient lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
