The SF157S at a glance

In the photos the Salvatore Ferragamo SF157S is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. Our supplier lists the frame as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. Metal temples with acetate tips complete the frame. Salvatore Ferragamo files this colourway as code 045.

The numbers on the temple

Written on the inside of the temple as 60-15-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 60 mm lens puts it in the extra large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

The brown polarized lenses

The lenses are brown polarized. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. The supplier lists these lenses as polarized, which cuts the glare that bounces off water, road and glass.
