The SF1107S at a glance

In the photos the Salvatore Ferragamo SF1107S is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. Colour 653 is how Salvatore Ferragamo labels this version.

Size and fit

The size is 55-20-140: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 55 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

Lens colour: brown. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
