A closer look at the SF1087SN

The photos show a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples complete the frame. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the translucent temples with visible wire core. The colour code is 001, Salvatore Ferragamo's own name for this finish.

Will it fit?

It measures 56-18-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. The lens width of 56 mm is large for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

What the lens does

Lens colour: brown. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
