An oversized square with softened corners

The FT1155 is a big, thick square front. The outer edge is squared off with a flat brow and a flat bridge bar, while each lens opening is rounded at its corners, so the frame reads as square from across a room and soft up close. The dark havana finish is a deep brown tortoiseshell with amber mottling that shows most on the brow and the upper temples. TOM FORD is etched in the upper outer corner of the right lens, a gold-tone metal T sits at each hinge, and the name is printed again on the inside of the wide, flat temples.

Reading 60-20-135

The size is 60-20-135: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimeters. A 60 mm lens is at the top of what sunglasses frames are cut at, which is what makes the front look oversized on most faces. The 20 mm bridge is average. The 135 mm temples are a little shorter than the 140 millimeters that most frames use, which suits a frame this deep: the front sits close and the arms do not need to reach as far back. If you already wear an oversized square, this will feel familiar; if your current pair has a lens under 55 millimeters, expect a noticeably bigger frame.

The brown gradient lens

A gradient lens is darkest along the top and lightens toward the bottom edge. Overhead sun is cut hardest, while the lower part of the lens stays clear enough to read a menu or a phone without tipping the glasses down. The brown tint warms the view and lifts contrast a little, which many people prefer to a neutral grey on bright, flat days.

Frame material, as the supplier lists it

Our supplier records the frame material as plastic. Retailers selling the same 52F colour describe it as acetate, which is the usual material for a Tom Ford front with this kind of tortoiseshell depth. We show the supplier's figure and leave the question open rather than upgrade it on a guess. The supplier's data gives no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we do not claim one.

New, boxed, and how it ships

The pair arrives brand-new in Tom Ford's own box, with the case and cleaning cloth whenever Tom Ford supplies them, and is sold as authentic. Our supplier does the packing and hands the parcel to the carrier on business days, normally one to two of them after you order; US shipping costs nothing and the tracking number lands in your inbox. Thirty days from delivery you may still send it back, unworn and in its packaging, for a refund less the label we email you. A manufacturing fault, the wrong pair or transit damage reported within seven days travels back on our prepaid label at no cost.

Questions about the Tom Ford FT1155

What is the Tom Ford FT1155?

An oversized square women's sunglass that Tom Ford names Ren. This page is colour code 52F: a dark havana tortoiseshell frame with brown gradient lenses, in size 60-20-135.

What does 52F mean on a Tom Ford frame?

Tom Ford pairs a frame colour with a lens colour in one code. 52 is the dark havana frame and F the brown gradient lens, so 52F on any Tom Ford model means that same combination.

How large is the FT1155?

The lens is 60 mm wide with a 20 mm bridge and 135 mm temples. That is an oversized front; it covers more of the face than a standard 52 to 55 millimeter frame.

Is the FT1155 for women or men?

The maker lists it as a women's style, and that is how it is listed here. The shape itself has no fit feature that stops anyone else wearing it.

Is the FT1155 authentic, and what is in the box?

It is: each pair is new, sold as authentic Tom Ford, and comes in the brand's box with the case and cloth when Tom Ford includes them. GlareBear is an independent store with no tie to Tom Ford.

When will it ship?

Our supplier packs it and ships it on a business day, normally one or two after the order, to any US address at no charge. Tracking arrives by email.

What if the fit or the look is wrong?

Send it back within 30 days of delivery, unworn and in its packaging, and we refund you less the cost of the return label we email. A defect, a wrong pair or transit damage reported within 7 days goes back free on a prepaid label.
