What the FT1114 is

The photos show a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The colour code is 01A, Tom Ford's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

It measures 54-21-140, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 54 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

Through the lens

Smoke lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
