FT1066: shape and build

Seen front on, this is an oversized square front that covers a lot of face. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. It has acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. Tom Ford files this colourway as code 01B.

The numbers on the temple

Written on the inside of the temple as 68-16-120, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. At 68 mm across the lens this is a extra large frame. If the fit needs a tweak once it arrives, any optician can adjust it; pairs ship exactly as the maker packed them.

Through the lens

Lens colour: smoke gradient. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
