A flat roof over tall panes
Seen from the front, the SL 904 is built like a roof and two windows. The top edge of the black acetate runs level from hinge to hinge, and the lenses drop from it nearly straight at the outer sides before the lower edge slopes in toward the nose. They are taller than most rectangles, which gives the pair a lot of lens for its width. Every surface is polished, and the rim is the same thickness all the way around.
The notch under the bridge
Between the lenses sits a wide, solid bar of acetate with a rounded notch cut from its underside, the only place the frame touches the nose. We see no metal bridge and no pads in either photo, so there is nothing to bend into shape; the fit is the one the frame is cut with. Retailers file it as a rectangle, and one lists it under Saint Laurent's SL Logo line.
One line of lettering
There is no hardware on the front. The name, SAINT LAURENT, is set in small light capitals on the outside of the temple near the hinge, and the temples run straight back and narrow to a thin tip. The lenses carry no printing we can see.
Grey that lightens downward
Our supplier lists the lens colour as Grey Gradient. In the photos the tint is strongest along the brow and fades toward the bottom edge, so you see through the lower part more clearly than the top. The supplier gives no polarization or protection rating for this pair, so we state none.
