The SL569Y, front to temple tip
Seen front on, this is a squared-off take on the aviator, with a flatter brow and straighter sides. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a double-bar bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples complete the frame. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Its signature is the flat top brow with cutout keyhole bridge. Saint Laurent files this colourway as code 001.
