A closer look at the SL573

What you get is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is recycled acetate, per the supplier. Recycled acetate is the same sheet-cut material as standard acetate, made with recycled content; it holds colour well and an optician can adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the metal plaque on temples. Saint Laurent files this colourway as code 001.

How it fits

It measures 49-21-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 49 mm lens puts it in the small range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

What the lens does

The lenses are grey. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
