A closer look at the MARC645/S

The photos show a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as plastic, though in the photos the front looks like acetate. It has wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the gold-tone logo hardware on wide temples. The colour code is 0CCPHA, Marc Jacobs's own name for this finish.

The numbers on the temple

The size is 57-17-135: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 57 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. No one adjusts the fit before it ships; an optician can tweak the nose and temple bend in minutes.

Through the lens
