MERIDA/G/S: shape and build

In the photos the Kate Spade MERIDA/G/S is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier's data says plastic for the frame, while the photos read as acetate. The frame is finished with acetate temples. Its signature is the reddish tortoiseshell pattern with textured pink temples. The colour code is 0086HA, Kate Spade's own name for this finish.

Will it fit?

Written on the inside of the temple as 54-19-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 54 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

Through the lens

Brown gradient lenses are fitted. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. No polarization or UV figure comes with this pair from the supplier, and we do not add one.
