Tom Ford FT1113

What the FT1113 is

In the photos the Tom Ford FT1113 is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. Colour 52G is how Tom Ford labels this version.

The numbers on the temple

The size is 59-15-135: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 59 mm lens puts it in the extra large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. It ships unadjusted, straight from the box; a quick visit to an optician sorts any fit issue.

What the lens does

Lens colour: brown mirror. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A mirror coating that hides the eyes and throws glare back. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
