What the FT1049-D is

What you get is a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, with adjustable nose pads. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. Colour 26N is how Tom Ford labels this version.

How it fits

Written on the inside of the temple as 50-21-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 50 mm is medium for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

The lenses are green. A green tint sits between grey and brown: natural colour with a touch more contrast. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
