The FT1025 at a glance

In the photos the Tom Ford FT1025 is a squared-off take on the aviator, with a flatter brow and straighter sides. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples complete the frame. The branding sits on the lens. The detail that stands out is the metal bar insert on bridge. Colour 56F is how Tom Ford labels this version.

How it fits

The size is 56-15-145: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. At 56 mm across the lens this is a large frame. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

The brown gradient lenses

The lenses are brown gradient. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
