What the SF316S is

Seen front on, this is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. The frame material is metal, per the supplier. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. Mixed metal and acetate temples complete the frame. The colour code is 745, Salvatore Ferragamo's own name for this finish.

How it fits

It measures 61-16-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 61 mm lens puts it in the extra large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. It ships unadjusted, straight from the box; a quick visit to an optician sorts any fit issue.

Lens colour and finish

Lens colour: brown gradient. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.

The SF316S is also listed here as 027 (Dark Ruthenium with grey lenses), 021 (Light Ruthenium/Blue with blue lenses) and 002 (Matte Black with green lenses). Shape and size are the same; only the finish changes.

Within the US it ships free, usually one to two business days after you order, and the tracking number is emailed to you.
