A closer look at the SF2037S

Seen front on, this is a butterfly front, wide at the top and tapering down. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Mixed metal and acetate temples complete the frame. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the gold metal detail at temples. Salvatore Ferragamo files this colourway as code 640.

The numbers on the temple

It measures 56-18-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. At 56 mm across the lens this is a large frame. It ships unadjusted, straight from the box; a quick visit to an optician sorts any fit issue.

What the lens does

Brown lenses are fitted. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. An even, flat tint. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
