The SF2007S, front to temple tip

In the photos the Salvatore Ferragamo SF2007S is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the vertical gold bars on end pieces. Salvatore Ferragamo files this colourway as code 001.

Size and fit

Written on the inside of the temple as 51-20-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 51 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

Grey gradient lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. No polarization or UV figure comes with this pair from the supplier, and we do not add one.
