What the SL561 is

Seen front on, this is an oval lens, softer than a round one. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. The feed gives the material as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. The frame is finished with metal temples with acetate tips. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the straight top brow bar. Colour 001 is how Saint Laurent labels this version.

Reading the size

Written on the inside of the temple as 61-16-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 61 mm lens puts it in the extra large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

The lenses are black. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
