PERI108MELROSE: shape and build

Seen front on, this is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples complete the frame. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the white gothic script logo on temple. Palm Angels files this colourway as code 1007.

Reading the size

It measures 51-20-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. The lens width of 51 mm is medium for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Lens colour and finish

Dark grey lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.

Nothing is opened or handled before you: a new Palm Angels pair in the brand's own packaging, with case and cloth when the brand includes them. Within the US it ships free, usually one to two business days after you order, and the tracking number is emailed to you. Unworn pairs in their packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery, refund less the return label; defects, wrong items and transit damage are returned free when reported within 7 days.
