A closer look at the PERI048AUBERRY

Seen front on, this is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Its signature is the translucent orange chunky frame. The colour code is 2007, Palm Angels's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

Written on the inside of the temple as 53-18-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 53 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

What the lens does

Black lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
