What the NW671S is

Seen front on, this is a butterfly front, wide at the top and tapering down. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Its signature is the textured wire core inside clear temples. The colour code is 010, Nine West's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

It measures 55-19-140, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 55 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

The grey gradient lenses

The lenses are grey gradient. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. No polarization or UV figure comes with this pair from the supplier, and we do not add one.
