MIS0205/S: shape and build

In the photos the Missoni MIS0205/S is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Wide acetate temples complete the frame. The colour code is 009VGA, Missoni's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

It measures 54-18-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. At 54 mm across the lens this is a medium frame. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

Lens colour and finish

Brown ochre gradient lenses are fitted. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
