A closer look at the MIS0171/S

In the photos the Missoni MIS0171/S is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the marble chevron insert on temples. Missoni files this colourway as code 0807PR.

Will it fit?

Written on the inside of the temple as 57-16-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 57 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

What the lens does

Grey gradient lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. No polarization or UV figure comes with this pair from the supplier, and we do not add one.
