What the LW40033I is

Seen front on, this is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. It has wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the inflated puffy frame design. Loewe files this colourway as code 21C.

Reading the size

Written on the inside of the temple as 49-23-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 49 mm is small for a sunglasses frame. No one adjusts the fit before it ships; an optician can tweak the nose and temple bend in minutes.

What the lens does

Smoke with silver mirror lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A mirror coating that hides the eyes and throws glare back. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
