A closer look at the BOSS1626/S

The photos show a squared-off take on the aviator, with a flatter brow and straighter sides. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. Colour 0807QT is how Hugo Boss labels this version.

Reading the size

Written on the inside of the temple as 55-18-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. At 55 mm across the lens this is a large frame. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

Through the lens

Lens colour: green. A green tint sits between grey and brown: natural colour with a touch more contrast. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
