The BOSS1501/S at a glance

Seen front on, this is a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The colour code is 0INAKU, Hugo Boss's own name for this finish.

The numbers on the temple

Written on the inside of the temple as 51-22-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 51 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. No one adjusts the fit before it ships; an optician can tweak the nose and temple bend in minutes.

What the lens does

Blue lenses are fitted. A blue tint gives the view a cooler cast. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
