A closer look at the GG2115S

What you get is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the interlocking gg logo on striped temples. The colour code is 001, Gucci's own name for this finish.

The numbers on the temple

It measures 55-18-135, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 55 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

Through the lens

Grey lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.

In the box, and getting it to you

Nothing is opened or handled before you: a new Gucci pair in the brand's own packaging, with case and cloth when the brand includes them. The supplier ships on business days, free to US addresses, normally within two days, and tracking follows by email. Returns: 30 days from delivery, unworn and boxed, with the label cost taken off the refund; defects, wrong items and transit damage come back free if reported within 7 days.
