GG1960S: shape and build

In the photos the Gucci GG1960S is a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. The branding sits on the lens. Its signature is the flat top brow and striped temple plaque. Colour 007 is how Gucci labels this version.

Will it fit?

Written on the inside of the temple as 53-17-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 53 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

The brown lenses

Brown lenses are fitted. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. An even, flat tint. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
