A closer look at the GG1819S

In the photos the Gucci GG1819S is a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as recycled acetate. Recycled acetate is the same sheet-cut material as standard acetate, made with recycled content; it holds colour well and an optician can adjust it with heat. Acetate temples complete the frame. The branding sits on the lens. Look for the clear transparent temples with visible wire core. The colour code is 005, Gucci's own name for this finish.

The numbers on the temple

It measures 57-17-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. At 57 mm across the lens this is a large frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

What the lens does

Lens colour: brown. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.

It arrives as Gucci packed it: new, in the brand's box, with the case and cloth the brand puts in. It is packed by our supplier and shipped free anywhere in the US, usually one to two business days after the order, with a tracking number sent to you. Returns: 30 days from delivery, unworn and boxed, with the label cost taken off the refund; defects, wrong items and transit damage come back free if reported within 7 days.
