What the GG1790S is

In the photos the Gucci GG1790S is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Its signature is the gold logo lettering on temples. Gucci files this colourway as code 001.

How it fits

Written on the inside of the temple as 51-18-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 51 mm is medium for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

Lens colour: grey. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
