The GG1784S, front to temple tip

Seen front on, this is a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. The colour code is 005, Gucci's own name for this finish.

How it fits

It measures 52-22-135, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. The lens width of 52 mm is medium for a sunglasses frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

The lenses are smoke gradient. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
