The GG1681S at a glance

What you get is a rectangular front, wider than it is tall. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. It has acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The branding sits on the lens. The detail that stands out is the crystal embellished gold g logo at hinge. Gucci files this colourway as code 003.

The numbers on the temple

The size is 53-14-140: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 53 mm is medium for a sunglasses frame. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

What the lens does

The lenses are grey with silver mirror. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. A mirror coating that hides the eyes and throws glare back. We make no polarization or UV claim for these lenses: the supplier's data does not include one.
