What the GG1552S is

The photos show a cat-eye front that lifts at the outer corners. There is a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a saddle bridge that spreads the weight across the nose, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with wide acetate temples. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. The detail that stands out is the interlocking g emblem on wide temples. Gucci files this colourway as code 004.

Reading the size

Written on the inside of the temple as 49-23-140, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. At 49 mm across the lens this is a small frame. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

What the lens does

Lens colour: light green gradient. A green tint sits between grey and brown: natural colour with a touch more contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Polarization and UV rating are not in the supplier's data for this pair, so neither is claimed here.
