A closer look at the GG1494S
What you get is a squared-off take on the aviator, with a flatter brow and straighter sides. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. The frame sits on a double-bar bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is recycled acetate, per the supplier. Recycled acetate is the same sheet-cut material as standard acetate, made with recycled content; it holds colour well and an optician can adjust it with heat. The frame is finished with acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The colour code is 001, Gucci's own name for this finish.

Written on the inside of the temple as 57-17-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 57 mm is large for a sunglasses frame. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.
What the lens does
Lens colour: grey. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
