The GG1314S, front to temple tip

Seen front on, this is an oversized square front that covers a lot of face. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. It has acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The colour code is 005, Gucci's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

It measures 55-19-140, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. At 55 mm across the lens this is a large frame. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

What the lens does

Brown gradient lenses are fitted. A brown tint warms the view slightly and sharpens contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Polarization and UV rating are not in the supplier's data for this pair, so neither is claimed here.
