A closer look at the GG1147S

Seen front on, this is an oversized square front that covers a lot of face. The lens is held by no rim at all: the bridge and temples mount straight onto the lenses. It rests on a plain single bridge, with adjustable nose pads. Our supplier lists the frame as metal. A metal front is thinner and lighter on the face than acetate. It has thin wire temples. Colour 001 is how Gucci labels this version.

The numbers on the temple

Written on the inside of the temple as 62-19-135, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 62 mm lens puts it in the extra large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

Lens colour and finish

The lenses are grey. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
