A closer look at the GG1084S

The photos show a square front with a flat brow and squared corners. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. Our supplier lists the frame as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. It has wide acetate temples. The colour code is 005, Gucci's own name for this finish.

Reading the size

It measures 54-18-145, which is the lens width, then the bridge, then the temple length, all in millimetres. A 54 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Nobody bends the temples or nose rest before shipping; an optician can do that in a few minutes if the fit is off.

Through the lens

Gold rimmed folding clip-on/light blue lenses are fitted. A blue tint gives the view a cooler cast. The supplier's data carries no polarization or UV rating for this pair, so we claim none.
