What the GG0529S is

In the photos the Gucci GG0529S is a squared-off take on the aviator, with a flatter brow and straighter sides. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a double-bar bridge, with adjustable nose pads. The feed gives the material as plastic, though in the photos the front looks like metal. It has acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge. The branding runs along the outside of the temple. Look for the striped web detail on temples. Colour 001 is how Gucci labels this version.

Size and fit

Written on the inside of the temple as 60-17-145, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. The lens width of 60 mm is extra large for a sunglasses frame. If the fit needs a tweak once it arrives, any optician can adjust it; pairs ship exactly as the maker packed them.

Lens colour and finish

Grey lenses are fitted. Grey is the neutral tint: it dims light evenly without shifting colours. An even, flat tint. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
