Heavy acetate, straight lines
The BE4438U is cut from thick black acetate with a high gloss, and almost every line on it is straight. The top edge runs level across both lenses and the bridge, the outer edges drop nearly vertical, and only the lower corners round off. The bridge is a solid block of the same acetate with no keyhole cut-out, and the front sits flat rather than wrapping. It is the kind of square that reads as a classic rather than a fashion shape, and the weight of the acetate is part of the look.
The hardware
Two pieces of silver metal break the black. A small rivet sits on each outer corner of the front, where the hinge is, and a flat silver band wraps each temple just behind the hinge, like a collar. The band is the only branding visible from the side; the name itself is printed small inside the left lens, where only the wearer sees it. The temples are the same thick acetate as the front and taper to plain black tips.
Dark grey lenses
