A closer look at the BV1362S

What you get is the teardrop pilot lens that drops below the brow line. It has a full rim all the way round each lens. Across the nose there is a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The frame material is acetate, per the supplier. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. Bottega Veneta files this colourway as code 001.

Size and fit

Written on the inside of the temple as 58-17-130, those are the lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 58 mm lens puts it in the large range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. The pair leaves the supplier exactly as packed by the maker, so a small fit adjustment, if needed, is an optician's job.

The grey lenses
