One lens, one sweep of tortoise
Most shields hang a single lens from a brow bar and leave the bottom edge bare. The BV1345S does the opposite: the whole lens sits inside a full acetate frame shaped like an oversized aviator, with a thick brow, a curved lower rim and a solid acetate bridge piece that runs down from the brow over the middle of the lens to form the nose rest. The acetate is a shiny dark havana, deep brown with amber and honey mottling that shows most on the thick temples. The lens itself is one flat sheet of brown behind all of it.
Why the size reads 99-1-120
The three numbers are lens width, bridge and temple length in millimeters. On an ordinary two-lens frame they are each measured separately; here the first number is the span of the single lens, roughly 99 mm from edge to edge, and the bridge is given as a nominal 1 mm because the lens does not stop at the nose. The temples are 120 mm, shorter than the length most flat frames use, because the front sits so far forward and wraps so much of the face. Overall it is a large frame on anyone; it is not a style that can be mistaken for discreet.
Recycled acetate and a brown lens
Our supplier lists the frame material as recycled acetate. One retailer we checked lists it simply as acetate; we show the supplier's figure. The lens is a flat brown tint with no gradient. Brown warms the view a little and adds contrast in bright light. No polarization or UV rating comes with the supplier's data, so none is claimed on this page.
Gold bars on the temple
Each temple is deep where it meets the front and carries a small emblem of three horizontal gold bars just behind the hinge. Toward the tip the acetate narrows, and the inner face of each tip is cut with a row of grooves. From the front the temples are hidden behind the wide rims; from the side they are the most decorated part of the pair.
