A closer look at the BV1270S

In the photos the Bottega Veneta BV1270S is a geometric front with angled edges. The lens is held by a full rim all the way round each lens. It rests on a plain single bridge, and the nose rest is part of the frame. The feed gives the material as acetate. Acetate is the plant-based plastic that most designer frames are cut and polished from sheet; it holds deep colour and an optician can re-adjust it with heat. Acetate temples with a metal plaque at the hinge complete the frame. The detail that stands out is the gold-tone metal bars on temple. Bottega Veneta files this colourway as code 004.

Will it fit?

The size is 54-16-140: lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. A 54 mm lens puts it in the medium range for sunglasses, so check it against a pair you already own. Frames ship as the maker boxed them, without adjustment, and a local optician can fine-tune the fit.

Through the lens

Green gradient lenses are fitted. A green tint sits between grey and brown: natural colour with a touch more contrast. A gradient tint, darker at the top than at the bottom. Nothing in the supplier's data says these lenses are polarized or gives a UV rating, so we say neither.
